About
Dr. Lorna B. Fountain, M.D., FAAFP, joined the faculty in July of 2007 and is currently the program director. Dr. Fountain received her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and was appointed as chief resident.
Dr. Fountain also serves as the director of curriculum for the residency program, and a member of the graduate medical education, patient safety and medical council committees. She holds appointments as an affiliate assistant professor for the department of family medicine at the University of South Florida and the clinical assistant professor of family medicine at Florida State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Fountain enjoys the full spectrum of family medicine with particular interests in women's health, obstetrics, breastfeeding, sports medicine, wilderness medicine and pediatrics.
Dr. Fountain practices at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Serving the community since 1906, Bayfront is a 480-bed tertiary, academic medical center located in St. Petersburg, affiliated with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and the regional flagship hospital for a network of hospitals bearing the Bayfront Health name along Florida’s Gulf Coast. The strength of Bayfront Health St. Petersburg is in the depth and breadth of the physicians and specialists available, as well as in the expertise and resources available to our patients.
Bayfront Health St. Petersburg’s Level II trauma center (Pinellas County’s only trauma center) and Bayflite (aeromedical transport program) have been serving the community for 30 years. Bayfront’s commitment to excellence includes, certified as Pinellas County’s only Level IV epilepsy center, accredited by The Joint Commission for hospital, laboratory and also The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for advanced certification as a primary stroke center and in the management of heart failure, hip and knee joint replacement. Bayfront Health’s Baby Place is a partner in one of 11 programs in the State of Florida designated as a Level III regional perinatal intensive care center (RIPICC).
